Jorgenson, #3

As I read more of Lupton's book, the possibilities in terms of creative approaches to design become varied. It kind of reminds me of those "choose your own adventure" Goosebumps books I used to be obsessed with in grammar school.

"Sprinting" is a time-crunched exercise to formulate as many ideas as possibilities for a project. Secretly I think that all designers actually perform this exercise - maybe just not in such of an intense process as explained by Lupton. When brainstorming, I attempt to concoct a multitude of ideas so as to filter through and find the most appropriate for the project at hand. Lupton's approach makes sense in that it's okay to have some shitty ideas as well.

Grids are also extremely important to the process of graphic design. Whether aware or not, each project is placed within a grid but personally I think the best designs are ones that the grid is more difficult to discern. I also loved the section on brand images because I think mainstream designs that represent an entity of society (i.e. logos) are great for their specific corporations while simultaneously being successful feats of art that have merged their way into pop culture.
