chapter 3

I learned about the verity of ways to think creatively during the designing proses from reading chapter three in this book. I learned how to important it is to step away from the computer and try new ways to get creative ideas. I learned that talking to people about your ideas, taking a walk, and looking at objects can help you think differently.  I also learned that you can uses crazy metals, and sketches to help you make new ideas. I think that I am going to try to incorporate the sprinting technique that was talked about in the book as I start my next project for this class.

My favorite Case study in this chapter was one that talked about tracing with toilet paper. It was amazing how cool the end product of design came out in illustrator. I would have never thought of creating a vector graphic with that process but it worked out nicely. I enjoyed this book because it teaches you how to think like a designer. I also liked reading this chapter because it had a lot of Case Study’s in it. I think that is good to have books written in the case study format because you can learn more from them. This book had real life scenarios and examples that are easy to apply and learn from. I also like reading this book because it had a lot of pictures that made it easier to visualize and understand the ideas.

  1. Stepping away from the computer is a great technique. If I find myself getting exhausted with one task, I usually like to take a break or sleep on it. The next day, I have a lot of energy and have no problem finishing the original task with ease. Same with designing. If you are not inspired right away, stepping away or sleeping on it, can allow you to generate new ideas. I feel like it's the same with any aspect. For example, if you are not grasping the concepts while studying, if you come back to it, the words and ideas will look similar. Sometimes, the more you work on something can improve the quality of it.
