My family history does not go back
as far as some families. My family is 50% Dutch, and 50% Russian. Both of my parents
were born in America, but their families lived overseas. As I said I don’t have
much of an ancestry. We are a Christian family, and have always celebrated Christmas.
Though my father was Jewish we decided to only celebrate the one holiday. I
have never been exposed to any sort of harassment due to my background. My
father used to be ridiculed for being Jewish unfortunately. But I personally
have never been wronged in that way. My family is Caucasian. There are no other
relationships in my family. I don’t know why, I don’t ever think it has
mattered. Allot of my family has passed away on both my mom and my dad’s side,
so my knowledge is based only on my parents. I haven’t even met some of my
close family, which really adds some ambiguity to my family’s history. I have plenty of friends
across different ethnic backgrounds. Oddly enough it has only been the past few
years that I have been exposed to a much more diverse community. Where I am
from there are not many people that aren’t white. It is very weird and paints
an awful stigma over the town that I come from. My friends that aren’t white
back at home have been targeted at times, especially by the police. I have
never really been bothered by anyone, but it does upset me to see some of my
friends get messed with. I
think I would like to use the large poster format, 11x17 following the
integrative outline and structure. I feel like this format being large, will
help my piece get its point across.
